An underground pipe carrying steam at high pressure burst in mid town Manhattan yesterday.

The explosion sent a geyser of scalding steam, water, mud and debris high above the 77-storey Chrysler building, one of the tallest structures in the city.

Apparently every recent model cellphone sold in the USA has a built-in tracking device that can be activated remotely and set to keep the microphone powered on, even when the phone itself is switched off.

The FBI used the technology in collecting evidence for the recent Genovese crime family trial.
