Wacky Washington Judge Roy Pearson Gets His Day In Court

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Judge Roy Pearson received extensive local and national media coverage in early May 2007 for choosing to exploit Washington’s well-intentioned but loosely worded Consumer Protection and Procedures Act in suing a family-owned D.C. dry cleaner for more than $65 million — over a lost pair of suit pants.

His pants were even found a week or two later, plus the couple have offered him a $12,000 settlement to drop the matter... but still he has stubbornly pushed on with the case for more than 2 years, almost bankrupting his victims in the process.

June 11th was the Judges day in court and to show just how "reasonable" he actually is, reduced the claimed amount to just 54 Million bucks! LOL

I saw this in the news.

Sickening how a judge who should be acting for all that is right would attack the 'small guy' like that over a measly pair of $30 slacks and win his case for an outragous sum.

Thankfully he has not won the case yet Deborah.

It does appear the Washington court system is indeed going to hear the matter though.

Kharma will find Judge Pearson in the end though.... surely he must already be an embarressing joke amongst his colleagues on the bench.. although maybe this is an example of how Judges really think of themselves... above the law.
